About Neural Prosody

Our Vision

Academic publishing should serve scholarship—not restrict it. The most consequential research in psychology and behavioral science ought to be accessible to the clinicians who apply it, the communities it affects, and the scholars who build upon it, regardless of institutional affiliation or financial means. Neural Prosody, LLC was founded on the conviction that open, rigorous, and ethically grounded publication is not an idealistic aspiration but an achievable standard.

We established Neural Prosody to advance a model of scholarly communication in which transparency, methodological integrity, and genuine accessibility are structural commitments rather than aspirational values. Every editorial decision we make—from how manuscripts are reviewed to how content is licensed and archived—reflects that foundational orientation.

About the Publisher

Neural Prosody, LLC is an independent academic publishing house dedicated to the dissemination of peer-reviewed research across psychology and the behavioral sciences. We publish open-access journals designed to meet the highest standards of scholarly rigor while remaining freely available to readers worldwide.

Neural Prosody was founded by Simon M. Rook, M.Sc., whose career spans service as a United States Marine, behavioral research, and data science. That range of experience—across service, science, and operations—informs the publisher’s commitment to work that is not only methodologically sound but meaningfully connected to the world it seeks to understand.

What We Publish

Neural Prosody publishes original empirical research, theoretical scholarship, systematic reviews, and methodological contributions across the full breadth of psychology and behavioral science. Our flagship publication, H0 Journal, is dedicated to psychological research of the highest methodological rigor—with a particular and deliberate commitment to the publication of null results. In a field exhibiting publishing bias in favor of statistically positive results, H0 Journal exists to correct that imbalance: a null result, rigorously obtained, is a contribution to knowledge. We publish it accordingly.

We are committed to growing our portfolio to serve adjacent and emerging areas of behavioral science. Scholars with interests in proposing new journals or special issues are encouraged to contact our editorial team.

Our Commitments

  • Open access publication, immediately free to all readers upon publication; article processing charges (APCs) apply to authors, with case-by-case discretionary waivers available

  • Rigorous, double-anonymized peer review conducted exclusively by qualified human reviewers

  • Direct financial compensation of $150 per reviewed article, recognizing peer review as skilled scholarly labor

  • Transparent editorial governance with published bylaws and conflict-of-interest policies

  • Long-term digital preservation through established archiving partnerships

  • WCAG-compliant publishing infrastructure accessible to all readers

  • Ethical use of emerging technologies, governed by explicit published policy

A Note on Our Name

Neural Prosody refers to the rhythmic, patterned qualities of neural activity—the idea that the brain does not simply process information but organizes it into coherent, structured expression. It is a fitting name for a publishing house: we believe scholarship, too, is most powerful when it is organized with care, communicated with precision, and structured to endure.
