Preservation and Archiving
Neural Prosody, LLC · Applies to all journals published under the Neural Prosody imprint
Neural Prosody is committed to the permanent accessibility of all published content.
We participate in the PKP Preservation Network to ensure that published articles remain accessible in perpetuity, independent of the Publisher’s operational status.
Our Preservation Commitment
The scholarly record is a permanent public good. Neural Prosody recognizes that its obligation to authors, readers, and the academic community extends beyond the immediate act of publication to the long-term preservation and accessibility of published content. We take this obligation seriously.
All content published in Neural Prosody journals is automatically and continuously preserved through our participation in the PKP Preservation Network. Preservation is not contingent on the operational status of the Publisher: in the event that Neural Prosody ceases operations or the primary publishing platform becomes unavailable, preserved content will remain accessible through the PKP PN network.
PKP Preservation Network
The PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) is a distributed digital preservation network operated by the Public Knowledge Project, the organization that develops and maintains Open Journal Systems. The PKP PN uses the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) protocol to preserve journal content across geographically distributed network nodes maintained by participating institutions worldwide.
Key features of PKP PN preservation relevant to Neural Prosody content:
Automatic preservation: all content published through OJS is automatically harvested and preserved by the PKP PN without manual intervention
Distributed storage: content is preserved across multiple independent nodes, eliminating single points of failure
Format-independent: content is preserved in its original published format, including HTML, PDF, and supplementary materials
Perpetual access: preserved content remains accessible in perpetuity through the PKP PN network, regardless of the Publisher’s operational status
Open infrastructure: the PKP PN is operated by a non-profit academic organization with no commercial interest in restricting access to preserved content
Digital Object Identifiers
All articles published in Neural Prosody journals are assigned CrossRef DOIs upon publication. DOIs provide stable, permanent links to published articles and are maintained by CrossRef independently of Neural Prosody’s operational status. In the event of publisher cessation, CrossRef’s Crossmark and metadata systems continue to resolve DOIs to the preserved or transferred content.
Research datasets associated with published articles are assigned DataCite DOIs through the author’s chosen repository (OSF, Zenodo, Figshare, or equivalent). Dataset DOIs are maintained by those repositories and DataCite independently of Neural Prosody.
Publisher Continuity
In the event that Neural Prosody ceases publication or undergoes a change in ownership or operational structure, the Publisher commits to:
Providing advance public notice of at least 90 days before any planned cessation of publishing operations
Ensuring that all published content is transferred to a successor publisher, institutional host, or preservation archive prior to cessation
Maintaining DOI resolution for all published articles through CrossRef for a minimum of two years following cessation, or until a successor arrangement is in place
Notifying authors of published articles of any material change in the Publisher’s operational status
Future Preservation Partnerships
Neural Prosody will evaluate participation in additional digital preservation programs as the journal portfolio grows, including Portico (ITHAKA), direct LOCKSS network membership, and institutional repository partnerships. Any additions to the preservation infrastructure will be reflected in an update to this page and to the Open Access and Licensing Policy.
