About Neural Prosody
Neural Prosody, LLC is an independent open access publisher of peer-reviewed psychology and behavioral science research. All content published under the Neural Prosody imprint is immediately and permanently available to readers worldwide at no cost. There are no subscription tiers, no paywalled content, and no institutional licensing fees. Institutions do not need to negotiate access agreements or purchase subscriptions to provide their communities with access to Neural Prosody content.
Neural Prosody’s flagship journal, H0 Journal, is dedicated to psychological research of the highest methodological rigor, with a particular commitment to the publication of null results. H0 Journal conducts double-anonymized peer review, publishes review reports alongside accepted articles, compensates peer reviewers directly, and operates on a fully open infrastructure through Open Journal Systems (OJS/PKP).
Neural Prosody is a pre-launch publisher. This page reflects current and planned library-facing features. Technical capabilities will be updated as the publishing infrastructure is fully configured. Librarians with questions about current feature availability are encouraged to contact the editorial office directly.
Access Model
Neural Prosody operates on a fully open access model. All published articles are made available immediately upon publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). There are no embargo periods, no tiered access levels, and no content that is restricted to subscribers or institutional account holders.
Because Neural Prosody content is freely and openly available to all readers, institutions do not need to:
Purchase subscriptions or site licenses
Negotiate institutional access agreements
Set up IP authentication or proxy access for their users
Manage access credentials or user registrations on behalf of their community
Any reader—affiliated with an institution or not—may access, download, read, and reuse any Neural Prosody article freely, subject only to the attribution requirements of CC BY 4.0.

In all cases, appropriate attribution to the original authors and publication is required.
No additional license, fee, or permission from Neural Prosody is required for any of the above uses. CC BY 4.0 grants these rights directly and unconditionally to all users. Institutions do not need to contact Neural Prosody to obtain permission for these activities.
Technical Information for Library Systems
Neural Prosody publishes through Open Journal Systems (OJS), an open-source publishing platform developed and maintained by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). OJS provides standard metadata outputs and library interoperability features. The following table summarizes the current and planned availability of library-facing technical features.
| Feature | Description | Status |
| DOI registration | All articles assigned CrossRef DOIs upon publication; stable, permanent links for catalog records and citations | Active |
| OAI-PMH metadata harvesting | OJS provides OAI-PMH endpoints for automated metadata harvesting by library discovery systems and aggregators | Active via OJS |
| Google Scholar indexing | Articles indexed automatically by Google Scholar via OJS metadata export | Active |
| DOAJ listing | Inclusion in the Directory of Open Access Journals; requires minimum publication history | Pending — application on eligibility |
| KBART title lists | Machine-readable title lists in KBART format for library knowledge bases (e.g. ExLibris, OCLC) | Planned |
| COUNTER usage statistics | Standardized usage reporting compliant with COUNTER Code of Practice | Planned |
| OpenURL resolver compatibility | Link resolver compatibility for library discovery and access systems | Planned |
| PubMed Central indexing | Full-text deposit and indexing in PMC; requires ISSN and publication record | Planned — application on eligibility |
| PsycINFO indexing | APA database indexing; application to follow ISSN assignment | Planned — application on eligibility |
Librarians who require specific technical information not listed above, or who wish to be notified when particular features become available, are encouraged to contact the editorial office. Neural Prosody will update this page as features are activated.
Metadata and Catalog Records
Neural Prosody supplies structured metadata for all published articles through CrossRef and OJS’s OAI-PMH interface. Article metadata includes title, authors and ORCIDs (where provided), abstract, keywords, DOI, license, funding information, and links to associated datasets. Metadata is supplied in Dublin Core and other standard formats via OAI-PMH.
Librarians wishing to add Neural Prosody journals to their library catalog or discovery system may do so using the journal’s DOI, ISSN (pending assignment), and OAI-PMH endpoint. KBART title lists will be made available for download from this page once the journal has an established publication record.
Digital Preservation
Neural Prosody participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which provides decentralized, distributed preservation of all OJS journal content through the LOCKSS protocol. Preserved content is maintained across geographically distributed network nodes.
In the event that the primary Neural Prosody OJS instance becomes unavailable, preserved content remains accessible through the PKP PN network. This provides libraries and their users with assurance of continued long-term access to published content independent of the Publisher’s operational status.
Neural Prosody will evaluate participation in additional preservation networks, including Portico and direct LOCKSS membership, as the journal portfolio grows. Current preservation status is disclosed in the Open Access and Licensing Policy.
Supporting Your Institution’s Authors
Librarians and research support staff who work with faculty, students, or researchers considering submission to one of Neural Prosody’s journals may find the following information useful.
Article processing charges
Neural Prosody charges article processing charges (APCs) to authors upon acceptance of a manuscript for publication. APC amounts are published on the specific journal’s website. Discretionary APC waivers are available for authors who lack institutional or grant funding; waiver requests are evaluated independently of editorial decisions. Institutions whose researchers publish frequently in Neural Prosody journals are encouraged to contact the editorial office to discuss whether any institutional arrangement may be appropriate as the Publisher’s portfolio develops.
Open access compliance
All Neural Prosody articles are published immediately open access under CC BY 4.0, satisfying the open access requirements of major research funders including NIH, Wellcome Trust, and funders operating under Plan S. Authors retain copyright. There are no embargo periods. The Version of Record may be deposited in institutional or subject repositories immediately upon publication.
ORCID and researcher identity
Neural Prosody encourages all authors to provide their ORCID identifier at submission. ORCIDs are included in article metadata supplied to CrossRef and indexing services, supporting accurate attribution and researcher profile integration across discovery platforms. Authors without an ORCID may register for free at orcid.org.
Preprints and self-archiving
Authors may post their manuscript as a preprint before, during, or after submission to Neural Prosody, with no embargo. Upon publication, authors may immediately self-archive the Version of Record in any institutional or subject repository. No additional permission from Neural Prosody is required.
