Accessibility Statement
Neural Prosody is committed to making its website and publishing platform accessible to all users, including people with disabilities.
We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance and are actively working to meet this standard across all pages and services.
Our Commitment
Neural Prosody, LLC is committed to ensuring that its website, publishing platform, and published content are accessible to the widest possible audience, including individuals with visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and neurological disabilities. We believe that open access means access for everyone—not only freedom from paywalls, but genuine usability for all readers.
Neural Prosody targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility and is required or recommended by accessibility legislation in many jurisdictions, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, and the European Accessibility Act.
Current Conformance Status
Neural Prosody is a pre-launch publisher. Our website and OJS publishing platform are currently in development. We are working to ensure that all pages, features, and published content meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards prior to and following launch.
Our current accessibility efforts include:
Selecting and configuring an OJS theme with demonstrated accessibility compliance
Ensuring all published articles are available in accessible PDF format with tagged headings, alt text for figures, and navigable structure
Using sufficient color contrast ratios across all site elements, meeting the WCAG 2.2 Level AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text
Ensuring all interactive elements are keyboard navigable and operable without a mouse
Providing descriptive link text throughout the site
Ensuring form fields in the submission system and contact form are labeled and compatible with screen readers
We acknowledge that not all content may currently meet the WCAG 2.2 Level AA standard in every respect. We are committed to identifying and remediating accessibility issues on an ongoing basis.
Known Limitations
The following known accessibility limitations are currently under remediation. We will update this statement as issues are resolved:
OJS platform accessibility: the default OJS interface has known accessibility limitations in some versions. Neural Prosody is evaluating accessible themes and will document conformance status upon launch.
Legacy PDF content: articles published in the early phases of our operation may not be fully tagged for accessibility. We will work to remediate PDFs as resources allow.
Third-party content: some third-party services integrated with our platform (including CrossRef metadata interfaces and PayPal payment pages) are outside Neural Prosody’s direct control. We encourage affected users to contact us for alternative arrangements.
Accessible Formats and Alternatives
If you require any Neural Prosody content in an alternative accessible format—including plain text, large print, or accessible HTML—please contact the editorial office. We will make reasonable efforts to provide content in the requested format within ten business days.
Authors are encouraged to prepare manuscripts that support accessibility, including by providing descriptive alt text for all figures and images, using accessible table formatting, and avoiding the use of color as the sole means of conveying information.
Feedback and Reporting Accessibility Issues
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of the Neural Prosody website and publishing platform. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please contact the editorial office with a description of the barrier, the page or feature where you encountered it, and your contact information. We will acknowledge receipt within two business days and aim to resolve reported issues within 30 days.
Formal Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility complaint, you may contact the relevant enforcement authority in your jurisdiction. In the United States, accessibility complaints relating to federally funded programs may be filed with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division or the relevant federal agency. In the EU, complaints may be directed to the applicable national accessibility enforcement body.
